Why Azure File Shares are Used

When it comes down to it, Azure Files is essentially a fully managed serverless file share hosted on Azure and reachable via protocols including SMB, and the Azure Files REST API.

Azure file shares are a great way to replace or enhance on-premise file servers because they may be mounted simultaneously by cloud and on-premises deployments. If you want to deal with files and provide your users the experience of working with files locally in Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS scenarios, it is an excellent solution to employ.

How Azure file sharesare used

By default, a storage account is created as a Standard performance tier when it is created through the Azure Portal. Data from GPv2 storage accounts is kept on hardware with hard disc drives in Azure file share. Other storage resources, such as blob containers, queues, or tables, can also be stored in GPv2 storage accounts in addition to Azure file shares. In order to have a shared drive between two servers or among users, we can mostly use Azure file storage. In that situation, we’ll use Azure file storage. An Azure storage account is the initial need for the Azure file storage structure. The Azure storage account includes Azure file storage as a service. And after setting up an Azure storage account, we’ll establish a file share.

Within a storage account, we have limitless options for creating file shares. After we construct a file sharing, we can create directories—which function similarly to folders—and upload files into them. Any virtual machine, whether it is located inside or outside of Azure, can mount a file share after it has been created.
