Although the features may vary but GL iNet router setup process is almost identical for each model. So if you also got your hands on one, then you must surely be eager to set it up. If yes, then without wasting any further time, let’s get straight to the point. 

Requirements For GL iNet Router Setup

The requirements are very basic and you do not need to go out in the market to buy them. So here’s everything that you need for the setup:

Apart from the package contents you first need a smart device. You can use your smartphone, tablet, computer system, laptop or even your iPad. Moving forward, for activating the router, you need access to a power outlet. Thereafter, you should have access to a web browser like Internet explorer, chrome, safari, firefox or edge. Lastly, we recommend keeping the user manual by your side. As for GL iNet router setup, you need various default information which is written in the user manual. 

Installing GL iNet Router

The setup steps are simple therefore it won’t take up much time. Here’s how can you install the router seamlessly:

✓ Power It Up

First for GL iNet router setup, you need to activate the device. For this in your package contents you receive a power adapter. Plug its power pin securely into the power port of the GL iNet router. Thereafter, plug the power adapter into a vacant power socket. As you push the on/off button the router will automatically turn on. 

✓ Build A Connection With Smart Device

In the second step we need to make a connection between our smartdevice and the GL iNet router. Remember this step won’t give you access to the internet. For this you have to follow the remaining steps. So to connect the device you have two alternatives. One is simply to turn on wifi. From the list of available networks connect to the network name of your router. The network name is written on the router’s back panel. Additionally, you also get a QR code on the product label, so you can scan it for connecting the smart device. The default password is “goodlife”. 

For this GL iNet router setup step the second alternative is to use an Ethernet cable. Just slip one end of the cable into the port of the smart device and the other end into the LAN port of the GL iNet router. The second method is more preferable as it is stable and secure.

✓ Activate The Web Browser 

Now on your same device, activate the internet browser. Now move to its address field. In it very accurately type in http://192.168.8.1 and push Enter. You’ll get access to the initial GL iNet router setup page. From here choose your preferred language. As you do so tap Next. Now a window pops up asking you to create an admin password. Make sure you create a password which is not guessable and is a mix of letters, numbers as well as special characters. Once you do so, tap on Submit. 

✓ Connect To The Internet 

Finally you now got the entry to the main GL iNet router setup panel. From the side bar select the option of Internet. Therefore you get four options through which you can connect to the Internet. Select any one and simply follow the on-screen directions to complete the setup. Do not forget to look for pending firmware updates as well as enable strong security encryptions. To implement the changes tap on Apply before logging out of the setup page. 

Can’t Access Admin Panel? Here’s The Fix 

Although the GL iNet router setup steps are straightforward, sometimes users get stuck with the admin panel access. So if you are also a victim of same then here are quick fix for the same:

• First if you are connecting the smart device via ethernet cable then make sure your WAN/LAN port selection is accurate. For your information, the LAN port is connected to the device whereas WAN port is connected to an internet source.

• Next, if you’re connecting the device through wifi, then make sure you are using the accurate details. The password goodlife needs to be written in lower letter case only. 

• Select a web browser that is running on its latest version. Additionally for resolving GL iNet router setup issues clear browser’s caches and cookies folder. Alternatively you can use the incognito mode to avoid interruptions because of cache and extensions. 

• In case you are using a mobile device for connecting to the GL iNet router, then ensure its mobile data is off. As this might be a reason as to why you aren’t able to access the Internet.

• Moreover if you are using a VPN then you need to turn it off and try again.

• In case nothing works, then restart the router or reset it to factory settings for a fresh new setup.
