The leading Canadian firm Rakuten Kobo Inc has unveiled its new eReaders having different color displays, named The Kobo Clara Color and the Kobo Libra Color. Both are Bluetooth-enabled devices and offer a long battery backup of up to a few weeks with a single charge.
Empowered by the Kobo optimized color E Ink Kaleido 3 display, The Kobo Clara color and Kobo Libra Color offer a subtle palette that enables the raiders to adjust the color as per their requirement.
Rakuten Kobo stepped into its first foray into the world of colored eReaders built with a repairable technology offering an IPXS rating which means it is completely waterproof and you can submerge it into 2 meters of water for 1 hour.
Ranging from $219.99 to $149.99 Kobo Libra Color and Kobo Clara Color are designed with a sleek look as their predecessor Black and White Models and offer a colorful screen to give them a stunning look.
In addition, the company claims that both the eReader can last up to 42 days with a single charge at 30 minutes daily reading time with a 30% screen Brightness along with disabled wifi and Bluetooth.
Kobo Libra Color
The company’s first 7-inch model Kobo Libra color endorses notebooks, and ebook annotations enabling readers to sync their files with Google Drive and Dropbox. Compatible with Kobo stylus 2, it offers a 32 GB onboard storage claiming to retain up to 24K ebooks and around 150 audiobooks.
Integrated with a notebook section, Kobo Libra Color will enable you to jot down notes, to-do lists, and manage a calendar and comes in eight different colors including Black and grey.
It lets you export notebooks to your computer but removes the lines from the page layout. The color ink will be available in the Kobo’s enhanced size Elipsa 2E which is meant for heavy note-taking.
Partnership with iFixit makes Kobo Libra Color kits repairable like display, battery, and motherboard including the front and back covers.
Kobo Clara Color
With a 6-inch display, the Kobo Clara Color offers 16 GB of internal storage meaning it can store up to 12 K eBooks and 75 Kobo audiobooks. It can also offer a long battery backup of a few days at 10% brightness and with disabled wifi and Bluetooth.
Additionally, the company has announced the introduction of a new upgraded version of Kobo Clara Black and White offering more storage and a faster processor at a range of $129.99.
Built with recycled materials the covers for all three models are ready for sale with the eReaders and preorders of the three models have started from 10th April while the sale begins from 30 April.
Moreover, Kobo eReaders lacks the Amazon Kindle’s collection of eBooks, still, it is a great choice for book lovers. This new Kobo Libra color makes reading and writing fun. However, it is not disclosed when this eReader will be available for purchase in India yet
